TouchWorks™ Pocket Library is designed to deliver well known clinical reference information to the physician's hand during a patient encounter. Pocket Library is the most comprehensive clinical resource available for Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices using the Microsoft Pocket PC operating system.
The Library utilizes a new "Reader" developed by Allscripts which accepts one or more "Titles". The Reader takes full advantage of the advanced display technology available on Microsoft Pocket PC devices making Library the most readable and easy-to-navigate general reference browser available on palm-sized computers. The superior processing speed and memory of the Pocket PC devices makes it possible for a physician to have an entire library of references loaded locally on the device.
In addition, all titles available in Pocket Library will automatically work with Allscripts other Point-of-Care clinical tools. For example, when prescribing a medication using TouchWorks™ Prescribe, the user can instantly access the appropriate monograph or chapter in any relevant titles.
Four titles will be available March 2001, including PediaStat®, a leading practical guide to urgent and emergent pediatrics, and three comprehensive drug reference guides covering adult, geriatric, and pediatric practices. Additional titles are planned for release throughout the year.
